The VMA is a large diaphragm tube condenser microphone with continuously variable polar pattern, and switchable tonal characteristics. Circuitry from the Brauner VM1 and VMX microphones can be selected via a switch on the PSU. It unites these two basic sound characters in one workhorse of a microphone. Through simple switching, you can select between the very natural transparent sound of the VM1 or the full character sound of the VMX, essentially giving you two different Brauner microphones in one single body.
