VIO L1610 POWERS THE BRILLIANT RETURN OF SOMMERKULTUR 2021 IN DINSLAKEN, GERMANY
Live again at last - that pretty much describes the concerts of the city of Dinslaken (Germany) Sommerkultur program. With more than 40 events, the festival ensures a good mood from July to the end of September with open-air music acts, theater, readings and comedy events on the stage of the Burgtheater - on which the premiere took place in 2020, in order to give artists the chance to perform precisely during this time.

The Burgtheater, with its open-air stage built back in 1934, is located right next to the medieval castle of the city of Dinslaken and is used for many different events. For Sommerkultur, the Burgtheater is the primary location for the entire program.
To tie the implementation of its events even closer to the city, Dinslaken founded the company DIN Event GmbH, which also provides organizational and technical support for the events of Sommerkultur 2021. For the PA, DIN Event opted for various modules from the active VIO range from dBTechnologies, which worked seamlessly together, providing the perfect summer sound from the open-air stage.
All dBTechnologies products are designed as active components, work perfectly together and are controlled with dBTechnologies' own Aurora Net tool. In addition, VIO L1610 is equipped with the smart 3-point rigging system, which ensures a smooth and easy setup.
Alexander Krößner, Managing Director at DIN Event GmbH, explains the background of the event: "The Sommerkultur series offers a wide mix of concerts, cabaret, readings or theatre. The sound system has to cope with all the different formats and reproduce the sound perfectly. During setup and operation, the VIO modules fully convinced me, and everything works very well in the overall package. Due to the individual VIO components' compatibility, the modulation and the final result are very convincing, and small changes in the arrangements are easy and quick to implement. After the Corona break, we are sending quite an impressive signal with our Sommerkultur series that live shows are back".

DIN Event GmbH uses 2x9 of flown VIO L1610 line array modules as main PA for the Sommerkultur. These are supplemented by a 4 VIO C12 cluster which, due to the design of the amphitheatre and the asymmetrical layout of the stage, acts as an outfill. The sub loudspeakers are positioned centrally in front of the stage and comprise 4 VIO S218 and 6 VIO S118R modules in endfire arrangement. 6 VIO X205-100 are placed horizontally on the subs or stage as frontfills. In addition, two more VIO X12s in the nearfield serve as outfill. The subs complement to the VIO C12 were two more DVA S1518N modules.
If, as in this case, the artist does not provide his own monitoring, DIN Event already has dBTechnologies equipment in stock to use it.

The system's setup remains the same for all events in the Sommerkultur series, with minor modifications. The basic simulation was carried out by DIN Event and the dBTechnologies team using Ease. During operation, all active components are monitored with dBTechnologies' own Aurora Net software.

Jochen Gotzen, Product Manager at dBTechnologies, is pleased about the successful use of the VIO units, "It is great to see our VIO products live on stage again. Sommerkultur is the first occasion our VIO components are in action with the new firmware 2.0. Our special thanks here goes to DIN Event GmbH, who chose our VIO product range for the relaunch and put their trust in us and the systems".
