VIO L208 GOES ON A MAJOR CONCERT TOUR WITH THE HERBERT PIXNER PROJECT AND THE BERLIN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

German event service provider Headroom Media Service GmbH relied on VIO systems from dBTechnologies for the Herbert Pixner Project tour with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. The tour with Herbert Pixner and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra included 23 concerts in 22 cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and ensemble performed in the most renowned concert halls and philharmonic halls in Europe, including the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Philharmonie im Gasteig Munich, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, and Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg. The Herbert Pixner project around South Tyrolean multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Herbert Pixner is currently one of the most successful acts in the field of "progressive folk music". To perfectly convey this special kind of sound spectacle of local folk music, world music and blues together with the symphonic sounds of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Headroom Media Service relied on audio systems from dBTechnologies' VIO series.

In total, 24 modules of the active VIO L208 line array system were used at the concerts, each as a 12-piece hang per side, plus 6x VIO 108R as subs and VIO X205 as nearfills. Because of the low weight of the VIO modules, the line arrays could be flown in almost all locations (except the Gasteig): This offered enormous advantages in terms of even/homogeneous coverage throughout the entire audience area, especially in houses with several balconies.
Andreas Adelhofer, Managing Director of Headroom Media Service GmbH and sound engineer during the tour, was responsible for the sound design. He was very satisfied with the use and performance of the dBTechnologies systems: "With regard to the current tour, my enthusiasm for dBTechnologies systems has been confirmed once again; handling, reliability, network monitoring and sound are fantastic. dBTechnologies offers well-thought-out products with excellent sound; they follow a clever system philosophy and offer their tools at a fair price. The perfect sound tools, great musicians, beautiful music...I had a lot of fun on this tour". The artists were also very satisfied with the sound result during the tour, and the reporting press explicitly mentioned the detailed and transparent sound.

Besides additional other renowned systems, Headroom has been relying on dBTechnologies systems for a long time now and appreciates the very professional rigging, the Aurora Net implementation and the detailed sound of the VIO 208 modules. During the entire tour, the team around sound engineer Andreas Adelhofer used RDNet and Aurora Net. Especially the possibilities to adjust level, frequency and runtime on the level of each loudspeaker in the array, even in already flown operation, is an immense advantage following Adelhofer's experience. As an example, he could make last-minute changes in one location when it became known that a top tier in the concert hall was blocked, but the line array had already been installed. Thanks to Aurora Net and the network connection, the sound specialists were able to lower the upper tops to reduce unwanted reflections. Headroom also used Aurora Net to make room adjustments and to monitor the system during the show, plus making adjustments during the live-event.
