R&S®RelayCaster enables optimized contribution and distribution of live IP streams. It delivers field-proven reliability in unmanaged IP networks. With R&S®RelayCaster, packet loss and jitter issues are a thing of the past. It allows you to replace expensive satellite links/fibers or to get rid of expensive contracts with CDN service providers.

Field-proven transmission quality

R&S®RelayCaster can fix packet loss rates of up to 50 % and jitter issues resulting from Internet transmission. Optional link redundancy with two parallel internet links offers seamless failover.

 

Low delay times

R&S®RelayCaster enables low-delay IP contribution and distribution in unmanaged IP networks, even over long-distance Internet links.

 

Standardized input and output formats

R&S®RelayCaster supports standardized MPEG-TS (SPTS and MPTS) with all common audio/video codecs as input and output.

 

Integrated monitoring

R&S®RelayCaster shows detailed link statistics and integrated monitoring of MPEG-TS Continuity Count (CC) errors and ETR-290 Prio 1, 2, 3 errors for all incoming and outgoing streams.

 

Integrated encryption

R&S®RelayCaster has built-in stream encryption and AES decryption for secure contribution and distribution of your live content.

 

Live encoding

R&S®RelayCaster is able to live encode from SDI or HDMI sources to MPEG-2 or AVC/H.264 with adaptive bitrate selection for optimal bandwidth allocation.

 

Various models

R&S®RelayCaster is available as a 19-inch rack-mountable server appliance, as a palm-sized embedded device, or as a software-only version for easy installation on existing servers hosted in data centers or in the cloud.

 

Easy administration

R&S®RelayCaster is built on a Linux system with responsive web interface (http/https) including a Setup Wizard for automatic setup of streams and a free software developer kit (SDK) for XML-RPC and PHP. Skyline DataMiner integration is available optionally by a partner.

 

Seamless failover

Using the optional feature link redundancy, a stream is transmitted in parallel using two internet connection, which allows for seamless failover in case of one internet connection going down.

How R&S®RelayCaster enables video distribution on IP

Compare the way R&S®RelayCaster enables 100% error free video IP contribution on unmanaged networks such as the Internet alongside original streaming as sent and received by UDP. The packet loss rate of the network simulator is then increased step-by-step, with R&S®RelayCaster again managing error free images with no visible delay.

 

Adaptive live encoding with R&S®RelayCaster

This video demonstrates the benefits of the R&S®RelayCaster encoder for adaptive live encoding of SDI signals and IP contribution in unmanaged networks, such as the Internet. Even when applying progressively less bandwidth, the adaptive encoding of R&S®RelayCaster reduces the encoding bitrate and the stream can received without errors.
